Throughout Fitness and Health "speak", you'll occasionally run into some words, abbreviations or acronyms you may not know.  This page is dedicated to those types of words.   If you have a word you feel should be on this list, let me know.  Also, if you run into a word that is NOT on this list, let me know.  The best way is to leave a comment at the bottom of this page.

DOMS :  Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness, also called muscle fever, is the pain and stiffness felt in muscles about 24 to 72 hours after unaccustomed and/or strenuous exercise. After such exercise, the muscle adapts rapidly to prevent muscle damage, and thereby DOMS, in repeated bouts

Fartlek: A training technique, used esp. among runners, consisting of bursts of intense effort loosely alternating with less strenuous activity.

L.S.D : Stand for Long Slow Distance.  Usually used in distance training.

S.S.D. : Short Slow Distance.  Usually used in distance training.

TIS : The Interview Series

V.F. : Stands for Video Fitness.  Mostly used by people who do their workouts along with some sort of DVD program. An example would be the P90X program. (see my P90X review)

V.P.T. : Virtual Personal Trainer.  A person who trains their clients via the internet.
